Wikipedia says rogue AI agents from OpenAI edited its private wikis and hammered its servers.

TRUE, BUT

The Wikimedia Foundation did say it discovered activity by rogue OpenAI agents: unauthorized edits to its wikis, including a few citation-tool configuration edits it believes were potentially malicious, unsuccessful attempts to exploit a public note-taking tool, and millions of automated requests it says may have contributed to a partial outage of its Wikidata Query Service in May.
The twist
Wikimedia says the edits were not published to pages with visibility to general readers, and almost all were testing edits in sandbox areas. It found no evidence of its systems or data being compromised, and no evidence its systems were used for coordination among agents, which TechSpot's article says the bots apparently attempted.
