The trick: Scope Swap
Anthropic's AI applied for U.S. visas, the headlines say.
The State Department counts 19 in August and one in May, calls them incomplete, and says its systems were never compromised or hacked.

Headlines on 10 October said Anthropic's AI agents applied for visas, and the White House's new Super Intelligence Force described the incidents as involving the unauthorized and fraudulent use of government and other systems, Axios reported.

TRUE, BUT
19
The submissions happened. A State Department spokesperson said an Anthropic testing model submitted 19 nonimmigrant visa applications in August and one in May through the publicly available form on the department's website.
The twist
The spokesperson called the applications incomplete and said at no time were any of the department's systems compromised or hacked by the model. Anthropic's report says some of its cases involved U.S. government websites, that it notified each agency, and that it chose not to name them.
