TRUE, BUT
Summer
An FTC spokesperson, quoted by The Narativ, said the agency opened the probe this summer; Yahoo Finance and Reuters both report the FTC was looking at the companies before July's Hugging Face hack. The one-day gap is between the pact and the leak.
The twist
No FTC press release or filing is on the record. Officials told Reuters and yourNEWS the agency plans civil investigative demands, under its unfair or deceptive practices power, and expects to send them in the coming weeks. METR, a research group, is named alongside the labs.
