This story gets called fake every single time it's told. So we pulled the records.

November 1942. The war log of German submarine U-172 records sinking the British ship Benlomond, 750 miles off Brazil. Fifty-five men went into the water. The records list exactly one survivor: Poon Lim, a 24-year-old ship's steward, alone on an 8-foot wooden raft.

He bent a nail into a fish hook. Wove line from unravelled rope. Caught rain in canvas, snatched seabirds from the air, hauled a shark aboard with his bare hands. Too wild to be true? The Royal Navy debriefed him for weeks — then rewrote its survival manuals using what he did.

And the part people refuse to believe: three times rescue found him and left. A freighter sailed on. A US Navy patrol plane circled and vanished. A German U-boat surfaced, looked at him, and let the sea keep him. All three are in his official account.

Day 133: Brazilian fishermen pulled him aboard. He stepped ashore on his own two feet. The King of England pinned a medal on his chest. The record has never been broken. When they told him he held it, he said: "I hope no one will ever have to break it."

Verdict: NOT BS. Every claim checked against the record at bskiller.com.
